Busan is a harbor city located in the southeast Korea. Compared with Seoul’s cosmopolitan vibe, Busan is a tougher and rougher place of strong regional accents, thick salt air and grand beaches and ports. You can say that Busan is more lively and energetic than the busy Seoul.
Haeundae Beach during peak summer and spring.
Haeundae Beach, a coarse of white sand, backed up by the shining towers of Busan’s recent affluence, is one of the finest beaches in Korea. Because of its popularity, it’s also the most crowded beach during the Summer season, rendering thousands of umbrellas set up on the beach.
Another noticeable beach in Busan is Gwangalli Beach. With a picturesque presence of Gwangan bridge and surroundings of bars, clubs and restaurants, Gwangalli Beach has some of the best nightlife in the city.

Another must-see site in Busan is Jagalchi Market, one of not only Korea but Asia’s largest seafood markets. It’s definitely an eye opening experience to see raw seafood including fish with noisy and well, smelly ambiance. In order to eat raw fish, you basically buy seafood from the market and take it to one of the raw fish restaurants. The restaurant serves the raw fish you bought into a nice dish with other kinds of small seafood and you’re set to a well served meal.
Jalgachi market and raw fish. yummm
Another Busan’s culinary highlight is Dwaeji Gukbap, which is rice a rich pork soup. It’s a well known Busan specialty, and one of the most popular pork soup restaurants in Busan is Twin Pork Soup. One thing is that it’s so popular that you have to wait at least 10~20 minutes whatever time you go. Yes, it’s that of a haze. But, if you like soup and rice, you will love it. It will be worth waiting. And trust me, it tastes so much better than it looks.
