1. What is Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai
The World Expo is a large-scale international event held every five years where countries and organizations from around the world gather to showcase innovations in technology, culture, and solutions to global challenges. Under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” this year’s World Expo is hosted in Osaka from April 13th to October 13th, 2025, and brings together 160+ countries & organizations.
Future Society Showcase
Throughout the Expo, visitors can experience four integrations identified as necessary for future society: Digital, Virtual, Green, and Smart Mobility. Digital is represented with digital personal agents & automatic translation systems available for all visitors. The Yumeshima Island hosting the Expo as well as the full campus, is recreated in Virtual reality, allowing virtual avatar exploration and augmented reality experiences. The facilities are also committed to the Green and Smart Mobility initiatives with a carbon recycling factory tour, electric buses, and hydrogen ship transfers available for visitors.
Official Expo Events
a. One World, One Planet.
- Held every day after sunset during the Expo, all audio and video systems throughout the campus synchronize & light up like the cells of a single larger organism. This dynamic show that lights up the entire venue with synchronized sound, lighting, projection mapping, and drone displays.
b. Under the Midnight Rainbow
This spectacular show is performed daily at the Water Plaza of the Expo campus inside the Grand Ring. Combining elements of air, water, light, fire & music, this show projected onto the water’s surface is a must-see for all visitors.
2. How to get to the Expo Venue
Train
- Take the Osaka Metro Chuo Line directly to Yumeshima Station, which is right in front of the Expo East Gate.
- From central Osaka:
- From JR Osaka Station, take the Osaka Loop Line to Bentencho Station, then transfer to the Chuo Line to Yumeshima (about 27 minutes, 550 yen)
- From Namba Station, take the Midosuji Subway Line to Hommachi Station, then transfer to the Chuo Line to Yumeshima (about 30 minutes, 430 yen)
- From Shin-Osaka Station, take the JR Kyoto Line to Osaka Station, then follow the above route (about 36 minutes, 570 yen)
Shuttle Bus
- From JR Sakurajima Station (on the JR Yumesaki Line), board a direct shuttle bus to the Expo site West Gate
- Wheelchair and stroller users can reserve seats via the KANSAI MaaS App
Airport Direct Bus
- Limousine buses run from Kansai International Airport directly to the Expo site (Yumeshima Transportation Terminal 1)
- The trip takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes, depending on traffic

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai features a diverse and innovative range of pavilions and zones, each offering unique perspectives on the future of society, technology, and culture. The site is organized around three primary pavilion categories: Signature Project Pavilions, Private Sector Pavilions, and Global Participant Showcase Pavilions. Signature Project Pavilions
At the heart of the Expo campus, eight renowned producers have created the ‘Signature Project Pavilions’, forming the core of the event’s thematic experience. Known collectively as the “Brilliance of Life,” these pavilions explore fundamental questions and possibilities of human existence through architecture, art, and interactive technology.
