Located in Gusan Beach of Uljin, this camping site is where you can go camping in the midst of a black pine forest and at the same time have an awe-inspiring view of the ocean waves and the pure white sands.

There are 3 types of camping to choose from: caravan, glamping site, and auto camping.

As the name suggests, this camping site is all about the starlights you can witness at night, which means the air and the surroundings are fresh and clean enough to enable the stars to be seen. Stay overnight to gaze at the stars at this camping ground nestled in mountains and a stream.

Surrounded by hills cloaked in trees and forests, this auto campground is in the midst of the Binggye stream, a big stream that runs down from the Bingsan mountain where the local village ‘Binggye-ri’ is built. You can have an enjoyable camping moment to the fullest with fresh air, a rural landscape, and of course the clean stream surrounded by steep cliffs that make one of the most picturesque nature views.

*Fun fact: The rocks that rise in the middle of the stream are one of the eight official sceneries of Gyeongbuk and the area was designated as Binggye county’s park in 1987.

4. Cheongdo Shinhwarang Camping

Operated by Cheongdo County, this auto camping site is located inside the Shinhwarang Culture Village, a cultural theme park built to commemorate the spirit of Hwarang*. It’s easily reachable to other facilities of the cultural complex, including the VR experience zone and memorial hall.

*Fun fact: Hwarang is an elite warrior group of young men in the Silla Kingdom (57 BC-AD 935). You can take a glimpse of what the Hwarang spirit was through the K-Drama “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth” starring Park Seo-joon, Go A-ra and Park Hyung-sik. It’s also known as the drama where BTS V showed his acting skills.

In Andong, the longest river in South Korea called the Nakdong River or Nakdonggang passes through and you can experience a variety of water activities in the river, and one would be canoeing. Andong Mulgil Canoe Tour offers a calm and tranquil paddling experience with its wooden canoes along the Nakdong River flows. In Korean, there’s a word called “Yuyujajeok”, meaning “taking it easy”, which will be fulfilled as you paddle down the river.

3. Andong Hahoe Rafting

Hahoe is one of the known rafting courses for its slow-flowing streams. You can enjoy a calmer rafting experience. The course starts from Byeongsan Seowon Confucian Academy and you can enjoy the superb view of Buyonggyeong, which boasts the best of the 12 views of the Nakdong River, and the traditional Korean houses that are preserved along the waterfront road.

5. Bonghwa Rafting
