Established in 1974, the Korean Folk Village aims to preserve and showcase the country’s cultural heritage. Jeonju Hanok Village is located in the city of Jeonju and there are over 800 traditional houses in the village. It was created by people who gathered to live against the Japanese colonial who tried to destroy the Jeonju fortress and invade the residential area in the 1930s. Many hanoks are now transformed into guesthouses, galleries, tea houses, and restaurants.
