In Gyeongju, cherry blossoms usually bloom from late March, with many spots reaching full bloom from late March to early April. You can also join the Daereungwon Stone-wall Road Cherry Blossom Festival in late March if you want to leave more unforgettable memories!

1. Bulguksa Temple

  • Location: 15-1 Jinhyeon-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do (Kakao Map)

As one of the most well-known and revered historical sites of Gyeongju, the Bulguksa Temple has been designated a World Cultural Heritage since 1995. Its significance as an architectural site is actually one of the factors that make it one of the best places to visit in Gyeongju in Spring. Imagine yourself surrounded by a flurry of pink cherry blossoms with a magnificent view of the Bulguksa Temple in the background!

Taking into the fact that it was built over 2000 years ago, it is regarded with much importance historically. In the Spring, the fields around the Cheomseongdae Observatory are covered with yellow canola flowers as well as rosy-tinged cherry blossoms, bringing the area to life!

In the downtown area of Gyeongju, you’ll come across the gigantic Bomun Lake, which itself is a sight to behold. During the cherry blossom season, which is in full swing in April, it becomes an even more breathtaking place, perfect for catching sight of the cherry blossoms or even just a peaceful evening stroll.

  • Expect peak bloom around early April, when the lakeside walking paths and roads are lined with cherry blossoms in full swing.
  • Rent a bike or stroll around the lake, and look for spots where the trees reflect on the water for especially picturesque photos.

4. Daereungwon Tomb Complex

Right above the Cheomseongdae Observatory lies the Daereungwon Tomb Complex, a collection of giant mounds. Including royal tombs from way over a millennium, travel back in time and experience the history of Gyeongju up close. Woljeonggyo Bridge is one of the best cherry blossom spots in Gyeongju, both day and night. A simply magnificent sight to set your eyes on, not only are the intricate details and design of the bridge up close a must-see, but also the view from afar. Capturing the beauty of the river and the scenery around it, with cherry blossoms adding to this view, this is one stop you mustn’t miss out on.

Also, make sure to capture the jaw-dropping night view of Woljeonggyo Bridge this spring!
