The Meguro River Cherry Blossom Festival is one of Tokyo’s most iconic spring events, taking place among the Meguro River where around 800 cherry trees line the riverbanks, creating a stunning tunnel of pink petals. The river is adorned with pink langers from 5 to 8pm, and seasonal treats like sakura-flavored food and drinks are available for purchase.

The Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival is held in Ueno Park, which is one of Japan’s most well-known cherry blossom viewing spots. Cherry trees were brought from Mount Yoshino and planted in the park around 400 years ago, making it a prime location for flower viewing. The park has around 1,200 cherry trees and has music, parades, picnicking, and nighttime illuminations with around 800 hanging lanterns.

Situated along the Chidorigafuchi Greenway, which is a 700-meter-long path near the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, the Chiyoda Cherry Blossom Festival features approximately 260 cherry trees. Visitors can also go on a boat ride to see the flowers in full bloom from the water. The area near Tokyo Tower with illuminated cherry blossoms is particularly popular for photos, and the cherry trees are lit up from sunset to 10PM every night.

Rikugien Garden, a beautiful Edo-era landscape garden in Tokyo, hosts a special nighttime viewing event during cherry blossom season. Though the garden is usually only open until 5pm, it stays open until 9pm during the season. Cherry trees, including the famous weeping cherry, are lit up from sunset to create a magical atmosphere, and there are illuminations of the central pond, island, and pavilion.

The Yomiuriland Night Cherry Blossom Jewel Illumination is a spring event that combines cherry blossoms with jewel-toned illuminations. Held at Yomiuriland, Tokyo’s largest amusement park, it features a sakura promenade adorned with illuminated cherry blossoms and lights, a Ferris wheel with 438 LED lights in sakura-inspired colors, a gondola that connects Yeio Yomiuriland Station to the park entrance, a fountain show featuring water screens, lasered flames, and synchronized fountains, and a crystal passage decorated with sapphire-colored illuminations. Adjacent to the park, there is also a garden called Biyori Flower Park that hosts the “Yozakura Biyori” event with illuminated cherry trees and bamboo installations.
6. Tokyo Tower Cherry Blossom Projection Mapping

Part of the “Tokyo Tower City Light Fantasia – Spring Concerto 2025” event, the Tokyo Tower Cherry Blossom Projection Mapping is held in the main deck of Tokyo Tower, featuring a projection mapping show themed around the arrival of spring, with animals and plants awakening from winter. It features a breathtaking display of fully bloomed cherry blossoms blending with the Tokyo night view and from this year, a new feature called Sakura photo time allows visitors to capture photos of the Tokyo night view bathed in pink hues of cherry blossoms.

The Sakura SKYTREE event held at Tokyo Skytree, the world’s tallest freestanding broadcasting tower with an observation deck featuring a 360-degree view, features cherry blossom-themed decorations and photo spots on its two decks, the Tembo Deck (350 meters) and the Tembo Galleria (450 meters). The tower’s exterior is also illuminated with a sakura sky theme and the cafe inside offers cherry blossom-inspired food and drinks. There’s also a theater that features a panoramic screen with cherry blossom footage and the souvenir shop on the 5th floor also sells limited-edition cherry blossom-themed goods.
