Have you ever dreamed of diving through the vast oceans freely? What a liberating and exhilarating experience that would be! However, scuba diving in open waters is not as easy as it looks and entails a certain degree of danger, especially if you’re neither prepared nor cautious. Well, you’ve got to know the basics to scuba diving first of all and have the proper diving gear. That’s why the PADI certification was created. Have a swimmingly good time without having to worry about endangering yourselves.

The two most popular courses are the PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Scuba Diver courses for entry-level divers. The main difference is that the latter covers a 12m dive but with a mandatory professional diver by your side. The former covers up to an 18m dive! Nonetheless, with the PADI certification, you could go scuba diving almost anywhere in the world! So, what are you waiting for? Why not enroll in one of these courses with Trazy during your stay in Thailand? They’re professional and affordable. What more could you ask for?

2. Recommended Diving Spots around Koh Samui and Pattaya

Once you’ve been certified as an official PADI scuba diver, now all there’s left to do is to explore the endless blue seas of Thailand. As I mentioned before, with certification comes more opportunities. Likewise, there are certain spots where only certified divers are allowed. So, make the most of your PADI certification by heading out to some of the best diving sites in Koh Samui and Pattaya.

Sail Rock

Out of the two most popular dive sites from Koh Samui, Sail Rock, also known as Hin Bai, is arguably the best in the region. Located between Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, the pinnacle-shaped hunk of granite rises 15m out of the water and reaches a maximum depth of 40m making it a great dive site for divers of all levels. Sail Rock is also well-known for its spectacular vertical “chimney” which can you swim into at 18m and exit at 12m or 6m. What’s more, you’ll be greeted by schools of Barracuda, Yellow Fusiliers, giant Groupers, Batfish and much more underwater marine life. If you’re lucky enough, you might just be able to swim among whale sharks which are said to make an appearance here and now.
